Awards to Celebrate Innovation and Excellence

QMCA has today launched the 2018 Innovation Awards, a celebration of innovative design, project delivery and collaboration across the contracting sector.

QMCA CEO, Jon Davies, highlighted the role of the awards in recognising the hard work and skills displayed by the contracting sector, “Our industry is one synonymous with hard work, effort and endeavour and it is important to recognise the achievements of our members and the wider industry as they help to build our state.”

“We operate in a hugely competitive and pressurised environment, yet each and every day we deliver amazing projects that combine the latest technologies, innovations and business practices.”

“The QMCA Innovation and Excellence Awards are about recognising the best of the best and will shine a light on the great work that our people do as part of delivering major projects across the length and breadth of the state.”

For 2018 the awards have been expanded to be truly reflective of the diverse nature of the projects the sector delivers and comprise:

  • QMCA CONTRACTORS AWARD (QMCA MEMBERS ONLY)
    The QMCA Contractors’ Award, seeks to showcase the most innovative concept that has led to an increase in productivity or increased efficiency whilst maintaining productivity.
  • QMCA DESIGN CONSULTANTS AWARD
    The QMCA Design Consultants Award, is to showcase the most innovative concept in an engineering discipline associated with a civil infrastructure project in Queensland.
  • QMCA SUBCONTRACTORS AND SUPPLIERS AWARD
    The QMCA Subcontractors and Suppliers Award, is to showcase the most innovative concept by a subcontractor or supplier in supporting the delivery of a civil infrastructure project in Queensland.
  • IAN HARRINGTON AWARD (QMCA MEMBERS ONLY)
    This Award, the Ian Harrington Award, is intended to recognise an individual or team from a QMCA member company that has “gone above and beyond” in its collaboration to achieve an outstanding result.

“We feel that this year our awards reflect the scale of the projects being delivered in Queensland and the collaborative partnerships that ensure the best possible outcomes for our communities.”

“I would encourage anyone within the industry to enter and be part of the biggest celebration of contracting and engineering excellence,” said Mr Davies.

Entries are open until Friday 13 July.

Winners will be announced at a gala event in Brisbane on Friday 5 October, where 500 guests will be entertained by hosts and speakers Dr Karl Kruszelnicki AM and futurist Michael McQueen.
