SUMMARY:International Women In Engineering Day Breakfast: 21 June 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join QMCA\, NAWIC Queensland and DT Infrastructure as we celebrate International Women in Engineering Day. \nThis event sold out in 2022 and 2023 – please book early to avoid disappointment. \nInternational Women in Engineering Day began in the UK in 2014 as a national campaign by the Women’s Engineering Society. Since then\, INWED has grown enormously\, receiving UNESCO patronage in 2016 and going truly global the following year. The day highlights the amazing work of women in engineering and technical roles across our industry. \nAs an industry\, we have undoubtedly come a long way\, with QMCA and member companies supporting and driving positive change. However\, more can still be done to increase female participation\, promote careers and pathways in engineering\, and ensure that we can attract and retain the best talent in infrastructure and engineering. \nAt our International Women in Engineering Day breakfast\, join QMCA\, keynote speakers Sally Stannard and Lydia Gentle OAM\, and a panel of female leaders from across the industry as we celebrate women’s achievements in infrastructure and address the challenges and barriers preventing increased female participation. \nJoin us for a unique event. Book your place – grab a table\, engage in this event and celebrate the fantastic women in the construction industry. \nEvent Partner – DT Infrastructure \n \nAs part of the Gamuda group of companies\, DT Infrastructure offers a unique synergy of local expertise in complex infrastructure projects and the backing of global infrastructure and property multi-national\, Gamuda.

Challenging international tensions\, rising energy and fuel costs\, supply chain constraints\, increasing labour costs and IR changes created challenging conditions for businesses and consumers alike in 2023\, but what trends will we see in the year ahead? How will Australia’s economy and outlook impact the construction and infrastructure sectors? \nCbus Super’s James Crawford and Alex Miller will join us for breakfast to share their insights and discuss the current macroeconomic environment\, market outlook and key investment challenges over the short to medium term. \nJames Crawford – Head Investment Specialist \n \nJames is the Head Investment Specialist at Cbus Super\, a profit-to-member superannuation fund with assets approaching A$90bn. SUMMARY:QMCA Networking Breakfast - 10 October 2023 - Water
DESCRIPTION:QMCA Water Breakfast \n  \nWater security is a subject of concern for Government and residents as we grapple with supply and demand to ensure that businesses and consumers have access to clean\, safe water when and where it is needed. \n  \nWith a growing population and industrial development\, how we manage our water resources now and into the future will require long-term strategic thinking\, investment and action to renew assets and build networks to ensure that demand doesn’t outstrip demand. And that is before we factor in the variable climate that determines how much water enters catchments. Equally there is a requirement to upgrade our dams from a safety perspective that requires significant investment over the next 10-15 years. \n  \nSo\, what is the long-term strategy for infrastructure investment in Queensland’s bulk water assets? Join QMCA for our October breakfast\, where our keynote speakers from SunWater and SEQ Water will outline future plans for building the network\, ensuring supply and upgrading assets\, including dams across the State. \nProudly Sponsored By:

SUMMARY:QMCA Networking Breakfast - 8 September - Resources
DESCRIPTION:QMCA Resources Breakfast \n\nQueensland has long been a powerhouse for Australia’s global resources industry as we have utilised the State’s natural resources to support economic growth and to underpin the State’s finances. \n\nTraditionally dominated by coal\, gas\, base metals and bauxite\, global demand is shifting as new resources are required to support the global transition to renewable energy and the new products required to support and sustain the transition. \n\nAnd that means infrastructure will be required to support the extraction\, transportation\, processing and utilisation of the resources that will support a changing industry. From ports to rail lines and from extraction to processing sites\, demand for support from the engineering and civil construction sector is set to grow\, so what does that mean for the sector in Queensland? Come along to our September breakfast to learn more about how you and your organisation can be involved in Queensland’s exciting resources future.

SUMMARY:QMCA Technology Forum/Summit - 14 June 2023
DESCRIPTION:Productivity has for years stagnated in the construction sector compared to other sectors. Whilst some of this can be put down to outside impacts (industrial relations\, greater reporting requirements and red tape) the fact remains that the construction industry is a laggard with respect to adopting new technology. \nTightly written specifications and “approved” products also constrain the industry’s ability to bring new innovative approaches and solutions using technology to market. There are\, however\, many new technologies and solutions that can improve productivity on site utilising engineering and operational advancements. \nIn our first Technology Forum/Summit\, QMCA will explore the materials and technologies that can enhance our industry and bring potential productivity gains to every project we undertake. \nThis forum/summit is designed to provide industry and clients with solutions that can be applied in your businesses and with clients to deliver productivity improvements\, this can be through technology and solutions. This event is for all\, but in particular: \n• Engineering Managers \n• Operational Managers \n• Technology and Systems Managers and leads \n• Finance Managers and leads

SUMMARY:QMCA Networking Breakfast 31 May 2023 - Nuclear Energy
DESCRIPTION:QMCA is going nuclear! \nJoin QMCA for our latest Networking Breakfast\, where we will investigate the opportunities\, practicalities\, and realities of using nuclear power to support the nation’s transition to net zero. \nFeaturing keynote presentations from Adi Paterson\, the former CEO of the Australian Nuclear and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) that operates Australia’s Lucas Heights Nuclear Reactor and a leading expert on Nuclear Science and Energy and Stephen Wilson\, Adjunct Professor at The University of Queensland and one of the nation’s leading energy economists and a panel discussion. This is our industry’s opportunity to get under-the-skin of the key issues without the emotion and hyperbole that nuclear energy creates. \nFrom the potential to support renewables as a carbon-free baseload power source\, to technological advances that are seeing pre-fabricated small-scale reactors being deployed in other markets\, nuclear power can reduce a country’s dependence on fossil fuel imports\, increasing energy security while minimising carbon emissions that contribute to climate change. But\, on the other hand\, there are concerns associated with nuclear power\, such as the potential for accidents\, access and consumption of water and the safe disposal of nuclear waste. \nSo where does the truth lie? This is your opportunity to find out. Join us at Victoria Park Function Centre on Wednesday\, 31 May\, at 7:00am for this not-to-be-missed industry event.

DESCRIPTION:The Queensland Major Projects Pipeline Report is the definitive guide to the major construction works that will define the success of Queensland’s Contracting Sector. \nLast year the Townsville region’s pipeline of major projects was $3.4bn\, with Road\, Minerals and Water projects driving investment and long-term growth\, but what does this year’s pipeline mean for the region? What are projects that will share the region\, and what is their status regarding funding\, approvals\, and scheduling? \nAuthored by Queensland Major Contractors Association and stakeholders from across the industry\, the report is a mainstay of government policy\, media commentary and influence\, as we actively pursue and deliver the transformational projects that employ our people\, connect our communities\, and drive the long-term economic and social wellbeing of the state. \nJoin QMCA and our partners from across the industry as we launch this year’s report at our Townsville Breakfast. At the event\, you will be given a briefing on the pipeline\, the sectors experiencing growth and the opportunities that lie ahead for our industry. SUMMARY:Qld Major Projects Pipeline Report - Brisbane 26 October 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Queensland Major Projects Pipeline Report is the definitive guide to the major construction works that will define the success of Queensland’s Contracting Sector. \nLaunched via a gala event in Brisbane and regionally in Townsville and Toowoomba\, the 2022 Queensland Major Projects Report will be the essential guide to our industry and the projects Queensland needs for long-term financial and social prosperity. As we look ahead to this year’s report\, we have many reasons to be optimistic about the future of our industry in Queensland as major projects such as Inland Rail\, Cross River Rail\, Brisbane Metro progress and upgrades to the M1\, Bruce Highway and essential water infrastructure development begin in earnest. This is before we see pipeline growth from emerging industries such as Hydrogen and the future investment requirements to support the 2032 Olympic Games. \nJoin QMCA and our partners from across the industry as we launch this year’s report at our Brisbane Breakfast. At the event\, you will be given a briefing on the pipeline\, the sectors experiencing growth and the opportunities that lie ahead for our industry and will hear from leading industry experts on what the state’s pipeline means for the state as well as its regions. \nProudly Sponsored By:

SUMMARY:SOLD OUT: International Women in Engineering Day Networking Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:Join QMCA as we celebrate International Women In Engineering Day. \nInternational Women in Engineering Day began in the UK in 2014 as a national campaign from the Women’s Engineering Society. Since then\, INWED has grown enormously\, receiving UNESCO patronage in 2016 and going truly global the following year. The day highlights the amazing work by women in engineering and technical roles across our industry. \nAs an industry\, there is no doubt we have come a long way\, with QMCA and members supported programs like Constructionarium Australia’s All-Female build program a leading example of positive change. But\, more can still be done to increase female participation\, promote careers and pathways in engineering\, and ensure that we can attract and retain the best talent to infrastructure and engineering. \nAt our International Women in Engineering Day Breakfast join QMCA\, keynote speakers and a panel of female leaders from across the industry as we celebrate the achievements of women in infrastructure and address the challenges and barriers preventing increased female participation. \nJoin us for a unique event. Book your place\, grab a table\, engage in this event\, and celebrate the fantastic women in the construction industry.
