Help shape the future of the construction industry for Queensland.

Queensland’s construction industry has no shortage of opportunity – or challenges.
A record pipeline of work, workforce and skills constraints, procurement complexity, productivity, industrial relations, technology adoption and the need for greater certainty around project delivery are issues affecting every part of our industry.
QMCA is establishing a new Working Group structure to bring our members together to tackle these challenges and, importantly, turn industry experience into action.
We want our members involved.
Our purpose is shaping the future of the construction industry for Queensland, with a vision for a safe, attractive and rewarding industry. These groups give our members a direct opportunity to contribute their knowledge, experience and ideas to that work.
Our Working Groups
QMCA is seeking Expressions of Interest from members to participate in five key Working Groups:
Productivity Action
Focused on the major factors affecting our industry’s ability to deliver more efficiently and sustainably – including pipeline certainty, procurement and design, client-contractor collaboration and risk, workforce capacity, technology and industrial relations.
Workforce Capacity and Capability
Focused on ensuring Queensland has the people, skills and capability required to deliver the infrastructure pipeline. The group will consider workforce attraction and retention, expanding industry capacity and opportunities to improve productivity.
Advocacy
Focused on strengthening QMCA’s relationships across government, industry, clients and other key stakeholders, ensuring the experience and priorities of our members are understood by the people making decisions that affect our industry.
Events and Membership
Focused on strengthening the connections that underpin our industry and ensuring QMCA continues to deliver value for members through relevant events, engagement and opportunities to connect.
Procurement Reform and Pipeline
Focused on creating greater certainty around Queensland’s infrastructure pipeline while addressing procurement complexity, design and approval processes, contracting models, client-contractor collaboration and fairer risk allocation.
Interest Groups
Members will also have the opportunity to participate in four Interest Groups:
Safety | Industrial Relations | Young Construction Professionals | Technology and Innovation
These groups will provide forums for members to connect, exchange ideas, share knowledge and keep QMCA informed about emerging issues and opportunities across their areas of focus.
Why get involved?
QMCA works best when the considerable experience sitting within our member organisations is brought to the table.
Getting involved is an opportunity to contribute directly to the industry’s response to the issues affecting your business, your people and your projects. It is also an opportunity to work alongside peers from across the sector, help develop practical solutions and strengthen our industry’s collective voice.
And we’re looking for a cross-section of people from across our membership, not simply the most senior person in the room.
We want people with relevant experience, ideas and a willingness to contribute.
Working Groups will generally meet every two months, with members expected to contribute approximately six hours per month. Events and Membership will meet monthly, while Interest Groups will be member-led and self-organising.
Where a particular issue needs more concentrated attention, Working Groups will also be able to establish short-term Task Forces focused on developing practical solutions.
Put your hand up
This is an opportunity to do more than talk about the challenges facing our industry. It is an opportunity to help shape what we do about them.
Once established, each Working Group will develop clear objectives, initiatives, timeframes and measures of success – creating a practical framework to turn industry experience and discussion into action.
If you, or someone within your organisation, has the experience, expertise and enthusiasm to contribute, we encourage you to submit an Expression of Interest.
