Women In Constrcution
Meet Shaneiqa Dixon, a trailblazer breaking gender stereotypes at just 19! The young Anaiwan woman was among three First Nations participants to complete a pre employment program called Women in Construction earlier this year.
Positive community engagement with Gaangalu and Darumbal Peoples at Rookwood Weir (Managibei Gamu).
The Rookwood Weir is an innovative landmark project that will bolster water security and drive agricultural, industrial and urban prosperity and growth for Central Queensland. The project was funded by the Queensland and Australian Government and delivered by an Alliance comprising Sunwater, GHD, ACCIONA and McCosker Contracting.
Fostering reconciliation on the Bruce Highway Upgrade C2SIW project
The jointly funded $662.5 million ($530 million Australian Government: $132.5 million Queensland Government) Bruce Highway Upgrade: Caboolture-Bribie Island Road to Steve Irwin Way (Exit 163) project (C2SIW) involved widening 11 kilometres of the Bruce Highway from four to six lanes between Caboolture and Elimbah, north of Brisbane.

Wyaga Creek Careers Day at Boggabilla Central School
On 6th June, CMC hosted a special event for Indigenous high school students from Boggabilla Central School at the Wyaga Creek Floodway Upgrade project for TMR. The students, accompanied by Indigenous elders, key community members, and project subcontractors, had a unique opportunity to explore the construction site and learn about careers in the civil construction industry.

In February, CPB Contractors brought together over 30 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses at its inaugural CPB Contractors Connect: Indigenous Business Forum in Brisbane’s CBD at Birrunga Gallery.
CPB Indigenous Engagement in Gympie
At one of CPB Contractor’s major road projects in Gympie, Queensland, the project team committed to indigenous engagement on site, exceeding targets set by both CPB and our Client. The Project set clear expectations around engagement and took a collaborative and genuine approach to procurement for the duration of the project, focusing on building business relationships for mutual success.
Building on CPB’s connection to the North with the Garbutt Magpies
In Mid-2023, CPB Contractors partnered with the Garbutt Magpies Sporting and Cultural Association to provide in-kind project management support for new clubhouse facilities and a sports oval lighting upgrade at Harold Phillips Park, located in the suburb of Garbutt, Townsville.

Townsville Trainee Safety Administrator Mikaela Jackson started her career with CPB Contractors in August 2023.
Now completing a Certificate III in Business Administration on one of CPB Contractors North Queensland Defence projects, Mikaela is excited about her future with CPB, and the opportunities she’s being afforded in NQ.

Georgiou’s vision for reconciliation is to work hand-in-hand with First Nations peoples, businesses and communities to enhance employment and training opportunities, increase our team’s understanding of the importance of reconciliation and forge strong, enduring relationships that promote recognition and respect, and ultimately, ‘walk together as equals.’
Townsville Ring Road Stage 5 Project
Georgiou delivered the Townsville Ring Road Stage 5 (TRR5) project for the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in 2023. The project involved duplication of a 6km section of the Bruce Highway through Condon and Bohle Plains, and construction of a new interchange to improve access to the Upper Ross area.

Kidston Indigenous engagement, training & employment activities
The Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project is being built on Ewamian Country, about 270km north-west of Townsville, turning an abandoned gold mine into a power-generating asset that will bring long term benefits to the local community.

2024 Logan NAIDOC Family Fun Day
On Tuesday 9 July, Seymour Whyte’s Brisbane team had the privilege of participating in and supporting the 2024 Logan NAIDOC Family Fun Day, a community festival that marked the spirit of NAIDOC Week in the City of Logan. The event was a vibrant celebration of First Nations culture, filled with meaningful activities that resonated deeply with all attendees.

Our vision for reconciliation is to enable equal participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples across the nation-building projects we deliver.
We will achieve this by delivering meaningful opportunities and pathways to employment, enhancing supplier diversity, and fostering a workforce and environment that embraces, respects, and celebrates the diverse cultures of First Nations Peoples.
Since the commencement of our RAP journey in 2020, we have embedded 117 actions and initiatives to drive positive change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples by delivering employment, education, and business opportunities and providing our workforce with experiences to reflect on and immerse themselves in the world’s oldest continuing living cultures.
