Introducing our first Technology & Innovation Expo
Productivity has for years stagnated in the construction sector compared to other sectors. Whilst some of this can be put down to outside impacts (industrial relations, greater reporting requirements and red tape) the fact remains that the construction industry is a laggard with respect to adopting new technology.
Tightly written specifications and “approved” products also constrain the industry’s ability to bring new innovative approaches and solutions using technology to market. There are however many new technologies and solutions that can improve productivity on site utilising engineering and operational advancements.
The QMCA is planning to host a technology showcase event/ expo in early 2023. This event serves to showcase some of these technology solutions that can unlock productivity improvements during the design and construction stages, and deliver value for money for our clients and stakeholders.
The Event
The QMCA Innovation and Technology Day/ Expo will enable industry to engage with the construction industry decision-makers. It will include keynote discussions on our productivity challenge and potential future state solutions for the industry. The event will have two major streams:
- Materials technology
- Operational technology
Companies can secure their opportunity to be part of this event to showcase their products and solutions and/or provide presentations to the industry across the two streams.
In giving a presentation, the QMCA would like to see the following structure to be followed:
- What is the problem/ challenge you are inherently solving
- What is the solution you have
- What are the barriers to adoption
- How your solution can overcome these problems and barriers and deliver productivity, cost and time saving improvements
