QMCA Welcomes Cross River Rail Award

QMCA congratulates the Pulse Consortium, Unity Consortium and Hitachi Rail on securing the key delivery packages for the $5.4bn Cross River Rail project.

CEO, Jon Davies, welcomed today’s milestone, “On behalf of QMCA we congratulate each organisation involved in securing their successful bid to deliver a once in a generation piece of infrastructure. We would like to particularly congratulate QMCA member CPB, on being selected as part of the consortia to deliver both the tunnel and rail packages.”

“Cross River Rail will be a transformational project that will tie together the development of Brisbane over the next decade and beyond. As a piece of infrastructure Cross River Rail is far more than a rail line, it will facilitate new private development such as Brisbane Live! to progress, will create new urban hubs at locations such as Boggo Road and connect inner Brisbane like never before.” said Mr Davies.

However, with ongoing funding disputes between the Federal and State Governments, QMCA has called on the Morrison Government to commit to funding Cross River Rail. “It is now essential that the Morrison Government support Cross River Rail with funding. Federal Labor has promised to support the project and prior to the election we would like to see a commitment from the Federal Government to match Labor’s commitment. By doing so, much needed state funds can be released for investment in other infrastructure projects. Queensland has a long list of urgent infrastructure needs and it is time for the Federal Government to appropriately fund the infrastructure our state needs to grow and sustain our economy.” said Mr Davies.
