About QMCA
Welcome to the Queensland Major Contractors Association (QMCA), the construction industry peak body representing Queensland’s leading construction contracting companies.
We are dedicated to making the construction industry safer, more efficient, more competitive and better able to contribute to the development of Queensland and Australia.
QMCA’s current membership includes the top-performing construction companies in Queensland, which together account for approximately 70-80% of the construction and civil engineering work in the State.
Queensland’s construction contractors are vital to the community, creating the infrastructure needed to underpin a fast-moving, flexible economy and our contemporary lifestyles. Every household and every business is dependent to some degree on their efforts.
The construction industry is one of the State’s largest employers, employing nearly a quarter of a million people and our world-leading contractors export technical excellence around the globe.
The QMCA has a crucial role in representing its members’ views on policies, inquiries and other government initiatives that affect the industry, in order to contribute to balanced policy making and better outcomes.
Innovation is an area the QMCA is actively encouraging through the Innovation Excellence Award which seeks to recognise and encourage innovation and excellence in the area of Engineering Infrastructure. The award is presented at the QMCA Annual function held in October each year.
Our activities are guided by our Strategic Plan, which is a response to the challenges that the Queensland construction industry faces in the next 3–5 years and takes into account our potential strengths as an organisation, as well as the areas where we need to improve our capabilities.
The QMCA is a strong industry voice on construction issues and a promoter of the industry’s professionalism and growth.
