Mr Chapman has an impressive track record of achievement in the engineering and construction sector, having gained more than 20 years’ experience working for major contractors and consultants; and as Engineers Australia, QLD past-President and Infrastructure Association of Queensland Inc (IAQ) Board Member.

QMCA Chair John Kirkwood welcomed Andrew to QMCA and looks forward to the leadership that he will bring to the association.

“Andrew is a fantastic addition to QMCA. Having worked for major contractors such as Thiess, Leighton and Transfield Services, as well as design consultants such as GHD, means that Andrew is uniquely positioned to have a complete perspective of our sector. He understands our industry and will play a vital part in delivering QCMA’s ongoing strategic goals.”

“As QMCA builds on our recent success and continues to act as the peak body for our sector, the Board and I look forward to working with Andrew and harnessing his extensive knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to represent our industry.”

“Construction plays a vital role in delivering major projects, connecting our communities and employing Queenslanders – and Andrew will ensure that the importance of our industry is not overlooked,” said John.

Mr Chapman expressed delight at his appointment and is looking forward to the challenges associated with the role.

“I am honoured to be appointed as CEO of QMCA; and look forward to building on the accomplishments of outgoing CEO Jon Davies.”

“The challenge of the role excites me, and I am looking forward to collaborating with our members, government, stakeholders and our supply chain to improve the sector for all.”

“I also look forward to shining a light on the role our members play in developing and delivering innovative, technological and safe working practices that support Queensland’s multi-billion-dollar projects pipeline which employs more than 235,000 people.”

“The construction sector remains a vital part of the economy in Queensland; I and QMCA are fully committed to ensuring that construction plays a critical part in acting as a driver for economic growth to support the state’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Andrew.

Mr Chapman commenced his role on 3 August 2020.
